First Day of School

It's today!  It's today!  I feel like all I have heard about since the last day of preschool is this thing called kindergarten.  The excitement of a new school and new friends made the summer drag on forever.  We are all excited to get into our new routine and back to normal.

Mom did a little Back to School breakfast for me...

She was glad she didn't slave over 5 different kinds of muffins, because I only wanted a few bites of cereal.  Mom didn't push it because she remembers being the same way on the first day of school...

Two weeks ago I asked if I could have streamers like I do on my birthday.  Daddy outdid himself!  They are my school colors!

Drinking my Jitter Juice to get the day started!

Mom was amazed how quickly I got ready and how excited I was to leave...

And because what is the first day of school without comparison pictures...

2012...

2011...

2010...

 2009...

I really think my 4 years of preschool has helped me be ready for today!

Some fun pictures with a sign!

and we are off!  The walk is less than 5 minutes... but man does that backpack get heavy!

Mom says I look way too big here...

I was SO excited that daddy got to walk me to school!

Our enormous megaphone...

Me & my mommy...

Me & my daddy...

Me & my new teacher Mrs. Oliphint!

2nd Post: A Letter to Milla

Dear Milla,

Here we go!  The day has come for big girl school.   22 students and 7 hour days, 5 days a week.  A world of loud cafeterias and recess with over 100 kids.  I can confidently say you are ready!  There have been times over the past 2 years where I worried you would not be, but oh how you've proven me wrong!

This summer you have grown into such a mature, kind, helpful kid.  You have conquered new experiences, made new friends and flourished in situations that would have left you frozen just a year ago.  Every week you marched into a new adventure, nervous, but ready.  I pray that those experiences and successes will stay with you and make school seem a little less scary.

You have been blessed with a wonderful teacher, good friends in your class.   You have been blessed by the teachers in your life both at preschool and dance that have prepared you and helped you grow into this confident kindergartener.  You have been blessed by a family who loves you, fits and all, for exactly who you are.  And don't worry, I will always be around, peaking in, making sure you continue down the right path.  I guess that's the benefit of being both Room Mom and Vice President of the PTA.

Be brave, Be kind, Be confident.  You've got this baby girl!

Last Day of Summer

Kind of like Christmas Eve, mom was afraid today would drag on forever if we didn't have something fun planned.  So we ended summer with a special day!

We headed to Chuck E Cheese with Bella for lunch and games...

We even did some dancing with him...

and then we headed to Sweet & Sassy for manicures and pedicures...

and then our last stop was Milwaukee Joe's for ice cream!

Thanks for sharing the last day of summer with me Bella!

Mom and I headed home to get me ready for hip hop.  I was excited about hip hop, but nervous and I did NOT want to take pictures...

After a long talk I came around (mom is praying I'm more willing to take pictures tomorrow morning for the first day of school!)

Proof that I had a blast at hip hop!  I immediately came out and said "when can I come back to hip hop?"  Mom explained to me that I have ballet/tap/jazz on Thursday, but I still wanted to know when I could come back for hip hop! :)

We ended the day with dinner, a bubble bath and lots of kindergarten books... mom was worried about whether or not I would sleep... but this is how she found me 5 minutes after bedtime.  Can you find me in all the stuffed animals?

Back to School Pictures

From mom:

I have dreamed of this photo shoot.  The talented Jeanine Phelps with Bella Jewel Photography is one of the best photographers in our area and I always adore the way her back to school mini sessions turn out.  I could not be more pleased with how they turned out.

Milla's friend Emerson from Austin drove up to do pictures with Bella Jewel as well, so we captured this one of the two of them together.  Doesn't it look like it should be an ad for Gymboree?

Last Weekend of Summer!

We started the weekend off with a playdate at Dove Pool with Piper.  It was SO much fun!  I'm so glad we are going to be in dance together this fall.  I don't know what I would do if I didn't see Piper every week!

Saturday morning we headed to our neighborhood pool for a Kindergarten Pool Party.  It was awesome!  We had a great turn out and everyone got to meet some classmates.  I have 4 girls from the neighborhood in my class!  We had donuts, snow cones, and even a magician!

Classmates!

Daddy and I perfected my pool jumps...

Here's the magician...

Saturday afternoon we headed to Cabella's to get daddy's birthday present and enjoy some people watching...

Daddy helped me with the shooting range too...

Saturday night Miss Michelle came over to babysit while mommy and daddy headed out to see Book of Mormon...

These were their seats... SO high!  Mom said she stood for most of the show because it was a better view.  Mom says the show was super funny!

Sunday we spent doing our routine stuff, grocery shopping, cleaning and getting ready for the week.  Most of my friends start school tomorrow, but I get ONE MORE DAY!

Here I am kissing the oven while mommy made mini muffins to go in my lunchbox.
