Mommy's new job has a lot of perks! Our first one... we got to cruise on the inaugural sailing out of Galveston on the Disney Magic! No one in our family has ever been on a cruise, but we are always up for a new adventure!
And of course who needed to go on that adventure with me? Mickey Mouse's bear Duffy! Mom even ordered him a nautical outfit!
While we were driving down we got our first look at the ship with it's 10 gallon hat! So cool!
It's about 5 1/2 hours to Galveston from our house, so we woke up very early Saturday morning and I even got to keep my pajamas on for the drive. We arrived right on time, unloaded the bags, parked the car and prepared to board the ship! Here we are at the port...
Headed down the hallway to get my Mickey Band and officially become part of the Oceaneer's Club...
What is the Oceaneer's Club? Well it's the coolest club around! Designed for all the junior cruisers on board, they have lots of scheduled activities and even some open houses so mom and dad could come play with me... And it's themed like Peter Pan's ship!
Lots and lots of computers, games and dress up...
Finally it was time for the Sail Away party... so neat!
The stage actually covers up one of the pools so all the characters can come out...
and yes, my headphones were VERY handy!
Before we even left the port it was time for an ice cream break! One of many!
and then the captain sounded "When You Wish Upon A Star" on the ship's horn and we were off!
This pic is for Papa Don... this is the USS Fort Worth which was commissioned in the port of Galveston that morning...
It was amazing to see all the people out to say goodbye to us!
While mom worked on getting our room moved (we were originally placed next to a room with a baby and toddler who screamed for 5 hours)... daddy and I explored the ship!
and met Mickey Mouse!
and after arriving at our AWESOME new room... we also met Goofy!
and the stuffed animal purchases began... HA! Thank you SO much for the gift card Grandma Kitty & Papa Don... it came into great use!
Mom learned a lot while prepping for the trip... one of the things she learned was that the doors are magnetic and you can decorate them! So we had a BLAST decorating our door... this is how I arranged it (later in the week mommy put it the way she envisioned it)...
Ready for our first dinner... we chose the late dinner seating so we could go to the show first. The later dinner service is at 8:15, which meant very late nights, but we got use to it pretty quickly...
With my sail away hand (which quickly became a weapon)...
Relaxing on a chair outside (the only time I slowed down the entire trip)...
Trying out this "hopscotch"...
and finally we arrived at our first dinner at Parrot Cay... it's the most casual restaurant and definitely became my favorite. One unique thing about a Disney cruise is you have the same server and assistant server the entire cruise. They become your friends and part of your vacation... we loved Senol & Desiree!
and every evening I got Mickey ketchup!
Happy at dinner!
Another unique Disney feature... towel art! Every night we had a new animal awaiting us...
Our room had a pull down bed as well as a sofa bed, so we used the upper bed for storage/playing. It was great!
It was a wonderful first day!

Hello! I stumbled on your page while researching a cruise for our little ones. Where did you get the adorable striped mickey dress? My girls would flip over that!
Hi Lorin! The dress actually came from Children's Place and then I added the Mickey Mouse flotation device. You might be able to find someone on etsy that makes something similar. Have you booked your cruise yet? If not I would love to help you with it! I'm a Disney Travel Planner and I've helped several families with special needs and dietary needs. My email is ashlee.fort@mousetalestravel.com and website is www.fairydustvacations.com
Take care!
