Mom has this theory that if the forecaster says 30% chance of rain then you should head directly to the zoo... especially in June, when they also say it's going to be 85 (normally 100).
So Tuesday we headed to the zoo...
While it was raining at our house...
"Are you sure this is going to be ok mom?"
"Alright I trust you"...
The interesting thing is the animals behave very differently in the rain. The hippos were out because they didn't have to stay underwater to get wet, but some of the animals hated it...
Like these guys...
It made the jungle cats sleepy...
and the gorillas ate lunch inside which was fun to watch...
Mom used our new stroller tripod trick and got a few pictures of us...
MUCH wetter in the 2nd one...
We decided if nothing else we could walk around MOLA since it's indoors...
I loved the turtles...
and the phones (and I touched a big lizard)...
This lizard was swimming and he definitely had his eye on me...
Then it was time for lunch...
I was ready to head back out in the rain...
and see more animals...
We headed to the indoor play area to see if we could wait out the rain a little longer...
I didn't want to leave...
In the chicken coupe...
Then we headed to Texas Wild to see the alligator...
and the otters...
I wanted Buzz to ride the alligator...
We even went into the bug house...
Suddenly the rain stopped and everything started opening up...
The carousel...
Where we found this awesome snail...
So we decided to do the penguins...
and the kangaroos...
and then the giraffes...
and the elephants...
and even the birds (yes this means we saw the lions and tigers twice). The birds were CRAZY they kept flying around in a pack and chirping like crazy. It kind of freaked me out!
When we came down from the birds we realized we heard the train! YAY!
I was so excited to ride the train with Buzz...
We rode around the whole zoo...
and I posed for pictures...
Happily for the most part...
This is when I realized I got to go through the tunnel again...
It was a great day. 5 hours of zoo time in late June, which just doesn't usually happen. Yes, we spent some of the time in the rain, but this is what memories are made of. Unexpected events that make the ordinary unforgettable!
Mom always has to snap pictures when the pets hang out together... it's just such a rare sight!!
